What 2018 taught me.

Image
Hoy se acaba el 2018. Thank God.

Not being okay is okay.

Cuándo te preguntan si estas bien, ¿Qué contestas? Estoy cansada, tengo hambre, me duele la cabeza, etc. Pero nunca aceptamos que nos pasa algo, no estamos bien. (Sorry for disappointing you Benito)

No estar bien, no es nada malo.

Llorar está bien. Aceptar que necesitas ayuda está bien. Lo que no está bien es reprimir todo lo que sientes por miedo de ver…

Glossier Solution : Is it worth it?

Image
Solution ($24) dropped at the beginning of the year and has since appeared in many beauty and skincare blogs and magazines, but is it worth your time and money?

Directly off Glossier's website; "Unlike physical exfoliators that scrape off the surface of your skin, Solution gently
sloughs dead cells away through chemical exfoliation, ungluing the problematic dead cells hiding and clogging healthy skin beneath. With daily use, expect cleared acne and blackheads, smaller pores, and reduced redness. Skin’s texture will be smoother and softer, and the fabled glow of balanced, healthy skin will be in full force. "

Solution contains a particular 10% blend of three acid groups: Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA), and Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA).

Before I talk about my rendezvous with Solution, lets talk about the packaging.
Glossier is known for having adorable packaging, which draws all of us in. This one in particular is full baby pink and glittery.

Although I don't…

How to know your skin type

Image
Getting to know your skin:

The first step to finding your perfect cleanser, is getting to know your skin type. There are three main categories and three sub categories it can fall into, luckily there's a really easy way to find out which one that is.
Wash your face with some water and dry it off. Wait an hour and place a tissue on your forehead, nose and cheeks.

Now there are some additions to these three basic types. The three subcategories are sensitive, combination and acne prone. These are quite self explanatory but just so you can be sure, here's what to look for:

-  sensitive skin reacts badly to a lot of products and gets irritated easily
-  combination skin is a mix between all three basic types (meaning some parts are oily while others are dry or normal)
-  acne prone skin is easily clogged and gets blemishes very frequently.

So now that you've identified your skin type, you can alter your skincare routine to what works for you!

July favorites

Image
As the month of July is nearly ending and school will soon be in session, I thought it would be nice to share some of the products I've been loving lately. Some beauty and some miscellaneous.

NYX HD creamy concealer

I recently purchased this concealer and I've been in love ever since. It's creamy, as the name suggests but isn't heavy on the face. It has medium to full coverage and I appreciate the price point.

Revlon Color Burst lip butter in juicy papaya

This has been my favorite lip product this month since its the perfect shade for summer. Its quite sheer but leaves just enough color and shine to look glossy and peachy.

Skin food Black sugar strawberry wash off mask

If you follow my instagram (@omarysfontt) you know I've been loving this mask so much. The scent, the texture, the packaging, everything!!!! 10/10

Yes to blueberries foaming facial cleanser

I've been reaching for this cleanser every morning since it's so light and refreshing. It cleanses my skin but …

Skincare 101: Creating your routine!

Image
The world of skincare is very confusing if you're just starting out. With so many lists that recommend products but don't explain if they will work for you or not, you can end up with even worse skin and less money.

So, I feel it is my duty to make things simple and easy for people who wanna get into skincare, but don't know where to start.

If you resonated with any of that, this is the post for you.

The first step to creating your perfect skincare routine is getting to know your skin. Be sure that you know what it needs and likes before starting to buy products randomly.

How to identify your skin type

After you've figured out your skin type, we can get started on building your routine.

1. Makeup removal

Now before we even start thinking about anything else, we've got to get rid of any trace of makeup on your skin. At night your skin renews and heals, and it can't do that if your pores are c…

The best makeup hack for oily skin!

Image
I'm always looking for ways to improve my makeup game, and one of the things I do most is try out hacks I find online.
With the Internet full of  diys and tips to help with your makeup, there's no excuse for not getting the most out of your makeup on the daily.

There's a hack for everything out there!

Out of the manythat have exited me but immediately disappointed me when put to the test, only onehas really surprised me and stayed in my routine.

And it's no surprise, since Aunt Jackie(@jackieaina) put me on it and I trust her with my LIFE.

I'll just get right to it because I know y'all dying to know.

This might sound weird but, have you ever considered putting POWDER after primer and before foundation?
Neither did I, but when Aunt Jackietells you to try something, you just do.

I was unsure at first because this sounded like a recipe for a caked face, and that ain't for me. If it ain't for you either, don't worry.

So there I was, getting ready for an eve…

How to choose the perfect cleanser for your skin

Image
Cleansing is the first and most important step in your skincare routine. It gets rid of all the dirt and grime of the day and preps your skin for the next steps. Dermatologist recommend to cleanse maximum twice a day to avoid drying your skin out. Another thing to avoid is using regular soap instead of cleansers that are specifically formulated for the face. Seriously, just don't.

Using a cleanser that is specifically formulated for your skin type is a game changer but finding the perfect cleanser in a sea of them is very difficult. That's why I'm here to help.
